BNY Investments Stellar network

Institutional finance keeps finding its way onto Stellar. This week’s announcement raises the stakes further. Marketnode, the Asia-Pacific infrastructure operator backed by Singapore Exchange, Temasek, HSBC, and Euroclear, will offer on-chain access to select BNY Investments funds through the Stellar network. Stellar started out known mostly for cheap cross-border payments. Now, regulated asset managers see it as viable rails for real financial products.

Why Marketnode Matters Here

Marketnode is not a crypto startup chasing headlines. SGX Group and Temasek founded it in 2021, and its shareholder list has since grown to include two of the biggest names in global custody and banking. The firm already runs Fundnode, Singapore’s blockchain-based funds infrastructure, so it brings real operational experience to the table. When an operator with that kind of institutional weight builds a bridge to Stellar, it signals more than a pilot project. It suggests the technology has cleared a bar that risk-averse financial firms take seriously.

What BNY Investments Brings

BNY Investments is the asset management arm of one of the world’s oldest custody banks. Its funds carry institutional credibility that smaller platforms cannot manufacture alone. Marketnode plans to tokenize select BNY Investments funds and distribute them through its digital infrastructure. That gives institutional and accredited investors a new channel into those strategies. This is not a wrapped token mimicking traditional finance from the outside. It is a direct pathway for an established manager’s actual products to exist on public blockchain rails.

Stellar’s Growing Reputation in Regulated Finance

Stellar Development Foundation leadership pointed to the network’s uptime record and its history as the chain where the first tokenized money market fund launched. That track record keeps compounding. Earlier this year, Kenanga Investment Bank partnered with Stellar to launch Malaysia’s first tokenized money market funds, adding another regional foothold. Each new deal makes the next one easier to justify inside other institutions watching from the sidelines.

The Bigger Pattern Forming

Put together, these announcements describe a pattern, not an isolated event. Regulated infrastructure operators, custody banks, and fund managers now treat Stellar as a credible settlement layer for real-world assets. For everyday traders, that institutional validation matters because it strengthens the ecosystem those traders already use. Platforms like Lumexo give people a straightforward way to trade on the Stellar DEX, tap into Blend lending markets, and hold stablecoins like USDC and EURC, all built on the same network that global asset managers now trust with real funds.
